Our club is open to U of T students and non-student members of the Athletic Centre. Our members have varying swimming ability and background. Some of us choose to compete in meets organized by Masters Swimming of Ontario while others choose to complement their fitness routine with swimming.
Swimming ability
We are not a learn to swim program.
>>> New members should have basic swimming ability as outlined in the sidebar.
Learn-to-swim programs at all levels are available to members of the Athletic Centre at the University of Toronto – more information here.
Schedule
Practices are held in the 50 meter pool or in the 25yd pool . There are five practices per week and the general schedule is:
- Sunday late mornings.
- Two weekday mornings.
- Two weekday evenings (late evenings in Fall/WInter, early evenings in Spring/Summer).
Details vary between Fall/Winter and Spring/Summer (time of day and day of week), as well as possibly from one year to the next. Furthermore:
- Practice is cancelled on all statutory holidays.
- Three week holiday break between Fall and Winter terms.
- No practices between mid-August and mid-September due to pool maintenance.
Updates regarding changes and cancellations will be posted and emailed through the club’s mailing list. Sometimes a practice has to be cancelled on a short notice due to unforeseen circumstances. In these cases we will try to reach all members as early as possible.
Please see the current schedule and upcoming cancellations in the sidebar.
How to join
>>> You must be a U of T student or a non-student member of the U of T’s Athletic Centre (AC).
Club fees are charged on top of the AC membership fees.
1. Athletic Centre membership
If you are currently a student at the University of Toronto and pay full incidental fees, you already have access to the AC. Non-students need to purchase a membership, for which membership fees vary, depending on one’s affiliation (if any) with the University.
2. Club membership
Club membership can be obtained per term: Fall (September – December), Winter (January – April), Spring (May – June), and Summer (July – August); or for a combination of terms.
Currently available options for students and non-students, along with fees, can be viewed by following the appropriate links in the sidebar. Registration can be done online at the links provided or in person at the Athletic Centre Main office (hours). 13% HST will be added to all fees.
It is possible to purchase AC membership at the same time of Masters Swim Club registration.
If the club is full for the term, there will be a waitlist, and if a spot opens up during the term it will be offered to the first person on this waitlist.
If there is a waitlist (see sidebar), it is NOT recommended to purchase AC membership for the SOLE purpose of getting on the waitlist. The probability of getting a spot once the club is full is small.
Athletic Centre membership and club registration are handled entirely by the Athletic Centre Main Office (hours), and all questions and inquiries regarding the registration process should be directed there.
