The Alderwood Teddy Bares Swim Meet is the longest running Masters swim meet in Ontario and also the only SCY meet.

After 45 continuous years of this annual meet, COVID put an end to competitive swimming for a while. So, when the Alderwood Teddy Bares club decided to offer this event once again, they thought it was an opportunity to pay tribute to their founder Ted Roach who passed away a few months ago.

So, the Ted Roach Memorial SCY Swim Meet will be held for the first time on Sunday, January 29, 2023. The format of the meet remains the same with one distance event, this season it will be the 500 Yard Free, as well as all of the other shorter yards events and a selection of three relays.

The meet is sanctioned by Masters Swimming Ontario. Swimmers may sign into the system, pay the meet fee and select their events.https://ms.mastersswimmingontario.ca/web/logon/memberLogon.php.

The entry deadline is January 24, 2023 at 11:30 PM. 

Practice has been cancelled due to a staffing issue. The next practice will be Wednesday morning, January 25, 2023.

Practices resume for the 2023 Winter term on Monday, January 9. The schedule will be the same as in the Fall term:

• Monday mornings 7:30 – 9 AM, 50m pool. January 9 – April 24.
• Wednesday mornings 7:30 – 9 AM, 50m pool, January 11 – April 26.
• Thursday evenings 9 – 11 PM, 50m pool, January 12 – April 27.
• Friday evenings 8:30 – 10:30 PM, 25 yd pool, January 13 – April 28.
• Sunday mornings 10 – 11:50 AM, 50m pool, January 15 – April 23.

Practices are cancelled on ll statutory holidays as well as due to swim meets and water polo tournaments in the 50m pool. As of now the cancellations dates are:

• Sunday, January 22.
• Monday, February 20 (Family Day, AC closed).
• Sunday, March 5.
• Friday, April 7 (Good Friday, AC closed).
• Sunday, April 30.

The last practice of the Winter term will be on Friday, April 28.
